The lucky arctic fox

2026 NIPA 2026

The lucky arctic fox

Thomas WederSwitzerland

HONORABLE MENTION

Nature / Wildlife

Entry type: Single

An Arctic fox approaches a reindeer carcass for the first time, having walked straight toward it across the vast winter landscape. It pauses cautiously, observing the unexpected find. In the harsh Arctic winter, where food is scarce and survival is a constant struggle, a carcass like this is a rare stroke of luck. The fox stands surrounded by endless snow, its instincts balancing curiosity, caution, and the promise of a precious meal.
