HONORABLE MENTION

Documentary

Entry type: Series
Series: 10 photographs

The mud ritual in Bijar is an annual Ashura mourning tradition in which mud serves not only as a symbol but as a physical expression of grief. Rather than simply documenting the ceremony, this series explores the relationship between people and the ritual through gestures, silence, gazes, and shared presence. The photographs seek to portray a tradition that continues in its authentic form, preserving the cultural and spiritual identity of Ashura in this region.
