Paths of Pilgrims

Nemah NajiSaudi Arabia

HONORABLE MENTION

Mobile Photography

Entry type: Single

This photograph captures pilgrims performing Umrah as they ride the escalators inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Diagonal lines from the intersecting escalators create strong geometry that guides the eye through layered movement. Intricate wall patterns rooted in Islamic art frame the scene, while soft multicoloured light reflects across metal surfaces. The blend of motion, ornamentation, and illumination highlights the harmony between contemporary architecture and enduring spiritual devotion.
