Description

The Portuguese word “saudade” is the feeling that something meaningful is missing, but that its absence has become part of the beauty of the moment.
An empty building by the sea can evoke saudade because it invites the imagination to fill in what's no longer visible.
The sea deepens that feeling. The ocean is always moving, while the building remains still. Waves erase footprints. Salt and wind slowly wear away stone.
Together they suggest that time has continued long after people left
