Description
A ruined stairwell at Montmajour Abbey close to Arles (France) rises behind wire mesh that allows vision while denying entry. Broken flights and exposed walls preserve the logic of ascent, although the route itself has collapsed. The grid imposes a second geometry upon the ruin, transforming architecture into an image of obstruction, memory and interrupted passage.
