
Gary Hershorn is a photographer and photo editor based in New York City. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Director of Photography at ABC News Digital and is a contributing photographer to Getty Images.
Gary, born in Canada, began his career in photography with United Press Canada in 1979, before joining the Reuters News Agency in 1985 for a 29-year stint. His time at Reuters saw him based in Toronto, Washington, DC, and New York City and took him around the world covering major news and sporting events. Since leaving Reuters, he has worked at Flipboard, FOX News, Facebook, and ABC News.
His present passion is working on an ongoing long-term project, documenting the changing skyline of New York City since the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, combining the skyline of Manhattan with various celestial events. He published a book, New York Celestial, in 2019.
