Description
The Australian Red Bull Ant (Myrmecia gulosa), is a large, highly aggressive ant native to eastern Australia.
They grow to 30 mm (and up to 40 mm in related species), making them among the world's largest ants. Unlike most ants that rely on chemical trails, Red Bull Ants have exceptional eyesight and can track moving intruders from up to two metres away.
Adults feed on plant nectar and insect honeydew, while carnivorous larvae are fed whole insects hunted by workers.
