I arrived as the record-breaking 48th eruption of Kilauea Volcano began on June 1, 2026. It was so delightful to watch lava spewing from the earth's surface. The fountain was small upon arrival. As roaring, rushing sounds came, it would grow higher. The sparkling lava filled the world around and rained down globs that burst on impact. The orange glow encompassing the area was surreal. The morning's darkness allowed its brilliant colors to take center stage. This is one of nature's best shows.
