The Interview
This NIPA feature brings together the artist’s reflections, selected works, and visual material in a long-form interview format.
began?
My journey began with a simple curiosity about people and their stories. Over 26 years ago, I picked up a camera and quickly realized it was my way of understanding the world. What started as a hobby became a lifelong passion that now connects me to audiences across the globe.
What truly moves and inspires you as an artist?
I am inspired by human emotion—the warmth, the struggles, the beauty in everyday life. Real people and real moments drive my creativity and motivate me to keep telling meaningful stories through my work. 3. How would you describe your photographic style and how has it evolved over

time?
My style is honest and human-focused. I combine lifestyle and travel photography with a strong storytelling approach, capturing not just what something looks like, but what it feels like.
Who or what influences your artistic vision?
My vision is shaped by the people I meet and the cultures I experience. Every journey, every face, and every moment influences the way I see and photograph the world.
What’s the story behind your winning photograph?
The photo captures a powerful moment from the Lal Kach Festival in Munshiganj, where thousands gather during Bangla New Year to pray, cook, and celebrate together. I wanted to show the emotion, devotion, and unity that make this tradition so special.
What was the most important decision you made when creating this image?
The key decision was choosing the exact moment that revealed the soul of the festival— when devotion, color, and human connection all came together naturally
How did you use light, composition, or emotion to bring your vision to life?
I used the warm, natural light of the festival and framed the scene to highlight the red tones, the movement of people, and their expressions of faith. My goal was to let viewers feel the energy and spiritual warmth of the moment.

What do you hope people feel or think when they see this photo?
I hope they feel the sense of unity, devotion, and cultural pride that fills the festival. More than a tradition, it is a reminder of how powerful and beautiful human connection can be.
What does photography mean to you on a personal level?
Photography is my way of feeling and understanding the world. It allows me to connect with people, preserve their stories, and express emotions that words cannot capture.
What was your first reaction when you found out you won a NIPA award?
I felt deeply honored and grateful. Winning a NIPA award was not just recognition—it was a moment that encouraged me to continue telling meaningful stories through my lens.
What are your upcoming projects or dreams for the future?
I want to continue documenting cultural traditions and human stories around the world. My dream is to create a dedicated project or exhibition that preserves disappearing lifestyles and celebrates the spirit of different communities.
what are your thoughts on NIPA, and is there any suggestion you’d like to share?
NIPA is an inspiring platform that uplifts photographers and showcases powerful stories. My only suggestion is to continue expanding opportunities for global artists, helping more voices and cultures are seen and celebrated. Md Foyez Mutahir Rimon (Mohammed Rimon) 17/11/1984
